The name Nokia resonates with durability and sturdiness. The moment we think or hear the name Nokia we can be sure of its reliability and great features. With their new smartphone Nokia 8, the same is expected to be guaranteed. The release date for this phone is in July 2017. However, the same is yet to be officially announced. The Nokia 8 boots on Android v7.0 (Nougat) operating system. It is a dual SIM phone with supports 4G, 3G and 2G networks of Indian bands. The fingerprint sensor features assure high-security as well.
Design and Display
The Nokia 8 weighs 156 grams whereas its height and width are 153 mm and 74 mm respectively. With a 7.9 mm thickness this piece ends up with a sleek and stylish design. However, one can flaunt this only in one colour as the only variant available in this handset is black colour. The phone comes with a fingerprint sensor at the front which responds quickly. A unique feature of the phone is that it has a heart rate monitor which would help in calculating one’s heart rate within seconds. It is also house to other sensors like the light sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer, compass and gyroscope
The Nokia 8 flaunts a gorilla glass on top and comes with a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display. The screen resolution of this display is 1,400 x 2,560 pixels and pixel density is 515 ppi. The capacitive touchscreen responds well to multi touch and makes multitasking and high end gaming quite smooth, swift and efficient. The screen to body ratio of this device is 78.93%.
Performance and Storage
The phone’s performance relies on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 MSM8998 chipset. Under the stylish looks, the phone has two quad-core processors – a 2.45GHz Kryo and a 1.9GHz Kryo which help in driving the system. It is assisted by a 6GB RAM and Adreno 540 graphics engine which assure good graphics and smooth multitasking on the phone.
For storage, the device provides an internal space of 64GB. If that does not suffice, one can make use of the 256GB expandable memory by inserting an external memory card. Such a huge storage space is definitely one of a kind in any smartphone
Camera and Battery
The handset is piled with a 24MP primary camera which captures amazing shots. It is backed with features like autofocus, optical image stabilization and a dual LED CCT flash. It provides aperture at 2.0 F. With ISO control settings and high dynamic range modes for shooting and capturing images one can be sure that the qualities of the captured photographs will be at another level. Even high quality video can be recorded at 3840X2160 megapixels @ 30 fps and 1920X1080 megapixels @ 60 fps.
The device draws its energy from Li-ion 3000 mAH battery. The battery is not user replaceable but this drawback can easily be overlooked over the fact that it provides great battery backup and charges just as quickly.
Network and Connectivity
The SIM size which one can fit in this device is a Micro one for both the SIM slots. The networks supported are 4G, 3G and 2G Indian bands.
For connectivity, the phone offers many options like dual SIM, 4G (supports Indian bands), 3G, 2G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11, a/ac/b/g/n 5GHz, Dual antennas, MIMO, WEP, Wi-Fi Direct, Mobile Hotspot, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS with A-GPS, Glonass and NFC. The multimedia option provided is a 3.5 mm audio jack.
The Nokia 8 price in India is not yet announced officially. An expected price range of the device has also not been put out. However, we can be sure that the Nokia 8 will be just another addition in the Nokia series with class performance. It can be marked that Nokia is looking forward to launch back to back mobiles this year. The Nokia 8 is a clear winner in all aspects and would turn out to be a very lucrative choice. With a striking display, a great battery backup, VoLTE, additional sensors, etc. and other such features the phone is definitely a worthy one. With this phone on the cards in the new few months, Nokia lovers are enthused about getting an opportunity to use a Nokia handset yet again.
